Best Time to Visit Thailand
It is very important to pick the right timing for everything, and your vacation trip is no exception. There are three seasons in Thailand – summer, winter and the rainy season. Best time to visit Thailand is from November to February – the weather is typically cooler during these times with less rain. But as Thailand is a big country, it makes sense to find out the weather exactly in that part where you are going.
Central and Eastern Thailand
In central and eastern parts of Thailand, the hot summer seasons lasts from February till April when the temperature often hovers around 40 ° C. November through January are the winter months. It can get relatively cool by the local standards during these months. But the westerners typically find this type of weather quite pleasant and comfortable.
The rainy season lasts from May till October. It rains quite often with occasional rainstorms. So if your plans include an enjoying the famous beaches of the eastern part of the country, such as Koh Chang and Pattaya, the best time to come here from November to May.
The north of Thailand
When compared to other provinces, the winters in the north of Thailand are much cooler. It can get really cold high in the mountains with the temperatures dropping to almost freezing. The winter season here lasts from November to February. This makes it the ideal time to visit this part of the country. The travelers will enjoy the dry and cool weather and the blooming flowers. The fog formations in the mountains create some breathtaking scenic views. April is also a fun time to visit, since the New Year celebration festival – Songkran – takes place during this month.
The south of Thailand
The climate in this part of the country is different from the rest – it only has two seasons – summer and rainy season. This is the geographically narrowest part of the peninsula with the Gulf of Thailand on the east and the Andaman Sea on the west. If you plan to visit the western coast of the peninsula and such places as Krabi, Phuket and Phang Nga, take your trip between November and April. This will ensure that you avoid monsoons – they definitely do not make for a pleasant travel experience.
Conversely, a trip to the eastern side of the peninsula and such destinations as Koh Samui and Hat Yai the best is to take from December to June. But for example, The Gulf of Thailand you can visit throughout the year. It is a good idea though to keep an eye on the weather conditions to avoid rainy days. If you plan on visiting both eastern and western coasts during your Thailand vacations, the best time is from December to April.
